Hedingham Castle

A magnificent castle with a picturesque backdrop, the Hedingham Castle is a fine example of a well maintained castle of the 11th century. The castle was the pride of the de Vere family who were the Earls of Oxford. The family lived here for a couple of centuries till it went out of the family and got back to them again in the late 18th century. Hedingham Castle is a classic motte and bailey structure which was built in the Norman architectural style. Currently, the castle is used as a venue for a number of events like weddings, parties and other celebrations for various occasions. The hall and gallery is used for weddings with a seating capacity of 100 and a standing space for more people. Although the family of Earls still reside on the premises, the castle is open to public, mainly school outings throughout the year.
