Terschelling is among the five islands of the Dutch Wadden Sea and records suggest its existence around 800 CE. It has a huge network of bicycle trails and is known for its nature reserve, De Noordvaarder. It has a 400-year old lighthouse called De Brandaris. This isle is indeed a nice getaway for those who want to be in the midst of natural beauty. There are many beaches such as the ones in Formerum, West aan Zee and Midsland aan Zee. There is something for everyone here. From cycling, horse-riding to kite-flying and windsurfing, surfing, sport-fishing and land-sailing, there are a lot of outdoor opportunities for the entire family. Some of the interesting sites are the Aike van Stien Museum, ’T Behouden Huys and Wrakmuseum de Boerderij. This island is also famous for it annual theater festival called the Oeroi.
