Laboe Naval Memorial was built between 1927 to 1936 in memory of all the naval soldiers irrespective of their nationality, who fought fiercely and sacrificed their lives during both the world wars. The memorial stands at 72 meters (236.22 feet) and an observation deck is perched on top of the tower. At its base, there is a hall of remembrance and a technical museum in a World War II German submarine U-995, the only one remaining of its extant. While the memorial pays tribute to the soldiers, it is also a symbol of prayer for peaceful and safe voyages of all the ships.
