Marktkirche zum Heiligen Geist is an evangelical church and is the main church of the town. It is also touted to be the largest wooden church of its kind in the country. With a beautiful blue facade, this Baroque church is a visual treat from the outside and the interiors are equally breathtaking as well. Built with oak wood and spruce, the church has a 30 meters (98.42 feet) tall tower. In the roof turret, a mechanical clock was installed post the church's renovation in the 19th Century. The beautiful 17th Century altar is noteworthy for its ornate decoration. The pulpit with intricate carvings and the delicately designed baptismal font are spectacular as well. Another significant feature of the church is its elaborate chandelier that dates back to the 18th Century with ostentatious detailing. Apart from this, the church is also the final resting place for many notable local personalities like Rudolf Lunde, Oberbergmeister Erhard Drechsler, and Richter Jobst Tolle.
