TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Rastatt is a South-west German city in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The meandering course of River Murg divides it into two unequal parts and the river meets the Rhine at the city's north-western border. Rastatt has played a significant role in shaping the history of Baden-Württemberg. It was the site of the signing of the Treaty of Rastatt and participated in the War of the Spanish Succession and the Revolutions of 1848. It also held importance as a powerful fortified area. It is most prominent as being home to famous margraves (aristocrats) and today the Baroque residence Schloss Rastatt is the main attraction. This city is a good tourist destination for those who enjoy exploring castles, forts and vintage buildings.
