Historic Core

The Historic Core is a neighborhood within Downtown Los Angeles that is endowed with a rich, historical heritage. This neighborhood is where the seeds of urban Los Angeles first took root before World War II. A number of the buildings found here date back to the financial boom and were once home to a number of banks and financial institutions before they moved on to the high-rises on Downtown. For a time after its heyday had passed, the neighborhood suffered much neglect. However, today the Historic Core is one of Downtown's most densely populated localities and boasts a variety of shops, salons, entertainment venues, farmers' markets, restaurants and bars. The Historic core lies between Hill and Main Streets and extends from the 3rd to 9th street.
