Bergamo is a city found in the Lombardy region, Italy. The city is spread across an area of 39.6 square kilometres (15.3 square miles). The town is sectioned into two parts - Città alta or upper city and Città bassa or lower city. The upper city has more historic significance as compared to the lower and has several tourist attractions such as palaces, squares, chapels, churches, castles, etc. The lower city is young and came into existence only in the 19th Century. This part of the city is more modern with high rise buildings and shopping districts. Bergamo is the second most visited city in the region of Lombardy.
