A formidable construction helmed by the Republic of Venice, this town was built in the year 1593. Palmanova is famed for the concentric landscape made in the spectacular shape of a nine-pointed star. Designed by the military architect Giulio Savorgnan, this town served as a Venetian military station, protecting the eastern frontier from the Ottoman Empire.
