Located just about 9 kilometers (5.59 miles) from Bayonne, Biarritz is a lively French beach town. Facing the glorious blue Bay of Biscay, it is a thriving tourist spot owing to the many lovely, sandy beaches it is home to. With a history that dates back to 1249, Biarritz is said to have Basque origins. Even as it lies just 35 kilometers (22 miles) from Spain, it was the French Empress Eugénie de Montijo who built the splendid Villa Eugénie, (which is now the luxurious Hotel du Palais). Home to many wonderful sites and attractions such as Chocolate Museum, Asiatica Museum and the greatest beach of the city Grande Plage. There's a lot to see and experience at Biarritz, it is deemed as one of the most up and coming holiday destinations of the world.
