TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Located in the city of Lugo, the Catedral de Santa María or Lugo Cathedral is a famous architectural landmark and a popular tourist attraction of the region. Dating back to the 12th Century, the Roman catholic Church features a remarkable blend of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical architectural elements, each of which were added to its structure during its many renovations. Flanked by two imposing bell towers on either side, the cathedral is adorned by fine stone carvings, arched windows and masterfully sculpted statues on its roof which are sure to delight any architecture enthusiast. It is home to a Diocese museum.
