Made completely of limestone, Château de Crussol is located atop the hill of Crussol with a bird’s-eye view of the Rhône valley. It was built in the 13th Century by Gerald Basset. The site was initially occupied by a Roman temple and later by a wooden fort and was majorly destructed due to the multiple attacks from the enemies. Deserted in the 17th Century, the castle was damaged as a result of mine explosion in 1855. Today, though the structure has fallen into disrepair, it attracts many history and culture enthusiasts for visitation.
