Neresheim Abbey, also known as Abbey of Saints Ulrich and Afra, is a magnificent medieval Benedictine monastery situated near the fringes of the town of Neresheim in Germany. The site was founded in 1095, and was formerly home to Augustinian Canons. Eventually, the place was converted to a monastery in 1106. The decision to construct a new church for the abbey was taken in 1745. The awe-inspiring edifice stands out with its spectacular Late Baroque architectural style. The interiors are equally splendid, with frescoes adorning the dome of the church, and the ornate nave and choir. At present, the site features a bookshop, restaurant, guesthouse and a conference center. Don't give this place a miss if you happen to be in Neresheim.
