Chateau de Kaysersberg

Perched at a small height of 295 meters (975 feet), Chateau de Kaysersberg is an imposing keep in the town of Kaysersberg. Probably constructed in the year 1220 for Frederick II's royal bailiff Albin Woelflin, the site was raided by the forces of Ribeaupierre and Horbourg in the year 1227. The castle was founded with barricade the routes advancing from the nearby settlement of Lorraine. The massive tubular bastion is counted as one of the earliest ones of Alsace. Visitors can explore the manor's ornate windows adorned with Gothic art, apart from some spectacular vistas of Kaysersberg's panorama.
