The Neo-Gothic structure of Johannes-Calvin Kirche is an important landmark in the city. Dating back to the early 20th Century, the church was designed by architect Hermann Behaghel. The church was built using red brick and sandstone. In 1852, major renovation took place at the church and it was extended to fit the growing number of worshipers in the community. The spectacular stained glass windows and the main portal have intricate designs that are quite notable. The baptismal font was carved out of red sandstone and dates back to 1959.
