Saint-Rémy is a picturesque commune surrounded by vineyards, corn fields and olive groves in the heart of the Alpilles. Nostredamus, famous for his prophecies, was born here in 1503. You can dig in to the history of the commune by exploring the remains of thermal Roman baths, houses and temples that await your discovery. The ancient Saint-Paul de Mausole Monastery here was expanded during the 19th Century for conversion into a rest house. Among its more illustrious visitors was Vincent Van Gogh, who completed several paintings here. In addition, it boasts of several museums, including the Museum of the Alpilles and the Archaeological Museum, each housed in a beautiful private mansion.
