Dating back to 1901, the building of Mitchell Opera House was earlier used as a city hall. Since 1908, it was used as a opera house and was heavily refurbished in 2015. In the past, the opera house has been a center for entertainment even during wars and post-war period. After the then owners failed to preserve the opera house, it was handed over to Hoosier Uplands by the local government for renovation and maintenance. After being renovated and with the addition of excellent sound and technological fixes, it offers a grand line-up of popular artists and bands. Chris Winward Band, Michael and Jennifer McLain, Michael and Jennifer McLain, Kirby Stailey, and Richard Lynch Band have graced the venue in the past.
