Five Alarm Funk is a 10-piece outfit from Canada that offers a manic brand of funk music and choreographed live performances that feels like musical theater but is housed in a calculated, cool jazz club. With a powerful horn section and four percussionists filling out the space between melodic climaxes, the band knows how to maintain an uncontrived theatrical energy while also knowing when to slow it down with some baritone sax.
