Ozric Tentacles is an instrumental rock band from the UK that creates a fusion of progressive, psychedelic and space rock music. Formed in 1983, the band built a following on the festival circuit with a series of cassette-only releases, starting with 1984's Erpsongs, and recurring performances at large-scale events like Glastonbury Festival. Ozric Tentacles released its first studio LP, Pungent Effulgent, in 1989 and went on to find mainstream success in the early 1990s with its next few records, most notably 1993's Jurassic Shift. With unusual time signatures and complex arrangements hidden behind electronic funk and jazz-infused psych sounds, the band continues to incorporate various unexpected elements into its recordings, though it remains most notorious for its live performances.
