Oklahoma City band The Pretty Black Chains may in fact have more to do with the 1990s grunge than even their name suggests. Decidedly nostalgic in nature, the band clearly draws on grunge favorites of a bygone era while taking cues from contemporaries of the sound. Riffs are central to the band's sound, an unabashed nod to the punk and classic rock that precedes the contemporary bands they obsess over. The group's debut EP is titled Awakening.
