Los Angeles duo Tearist is one of a growing number of dark synth and spare beat-oriented groups making gothic electro. Themes of pain, destruction and paranoia are frequent in the music of Tearist, helped in large part by the lead singer's distraught vocal delivery. Gothic symbols like crosses, upside down triangles and other geometric shapes are popular within this musical community, including the genre title "witch house."
