Daniel Kahn & The Painted Bird is a punk cabaret act from Detroit, Michigan that combines Klezmer, or Yiddish radical song, political cabaret and punk folk. Khan formed "The Painted Bird" in 2005 as a means to showcase some of New York and Germany's best Klezmer talent--doing a major part to propagate the haunting artistry of the genre throughout the US. Despite the obvious fact that Daniel Kahn has yet to hit it with mainstream audiences, the probability that 9 out of 10 people may have never had the opportunity to hear such music makes it all the more enticing to those looking for an adventurous concert experience.
