Dublin-born, New York-based Susan Mckeown is one of the few artists in the folk music genre working to stretch the sounds of traditional Gaelic and Irish music. Combining her own eccentric songwriting skills and a female perspective, Mckeown captures the lyrical and vocal beauties of the musical tradition while making it fun, ironic and personal. Mckeown has drawn on many aspects of her life as an immigrant living in New York City, a place where Mckeown seems to have buried her musical roots just as deeply as she has in her homeland.
