Frances Black is a Irish singer who got her start performing a fusion of contemporary and traditional Irish music as the youngest member of her family's band, The Black Family. Before pursuing a solo career, she recorded the album Frances Black and Kieran Goss in 1992, with Newry singer Kieran Goss. Featuring artists such as Eleanor McEvoy, Sharon Shannon and Frances' sister Mary Black, the album became the best-selling Irish album of all time. After touring with a group of 20 artists in a Guinness sponsored event celebrating Irish music, Frances was signed with Dara Records and released her solo debut in 1994 titled Talk to Me, which became a hit and took the number one spot on the Albums Chart in Ireland. By the time she released her fourth album, Don't Get Me Wrong with Sony Records in 1998, she had built a fan base in the US where she toured in 1994 and again in 1995. Frances continued to release music into the 2000s, including her 2008 effort The Essential Frances Black, in 2008.
