Raul Malo is the professional name for Raúl Francisco Martínez-Malo Jr., a Latin jazz/alternative country singer/songwriter and producer from Miami who is perhaps best known as the lead singer for the country western band The Mavericks. Since deciding to pursue a solo career in the early 2000s, Malo has devised an extraordinary style of music that borrows from the country/Americana style of his previous band and combines it with the sounds and rhythms unique to his Latin heritage. Since debuting his first solo album in 2001, Raul Malo has experienced a steady rise in his performance on the Billboard charts with each album released, his most recent album Sinners and Saints standing as his most successful and one that many believe epitomizes his distinct Latin style.
