With the release of his 2007 debut album, Old Brown Shoe, Dan Parsons established himself as a prominent member of the Australian pop-rock circuit at just 20 years of age. The Brisbane-based artist borrows from the worlds of indie pop, alt-country and anthemic radio rock to create an affable, easy to like sound that is perfectly-suited for mainstream crossover appeal. On record, Parsons is a jack-of-all-trades, recording vocals, guitar, drums and piano work. Live, however, he expands his lineup to a trio, enabling him to perform collaborative, fully-realized versions of his songs that benefit from the use of the extra members' arrangement ideas. With such a strong start to his career achieved at such a young age, it seems possible that Parsons will find much more widespread success sooner than later.
