James Devlin is a UK-based rapper who first emerged as part of England's grime scene in 2006. His first two singles, "Brainwashed" and "Runaway," helped him find success early by landing on the UK Singles chart at number 31 and 15, respectively. Whereas "Brainwashed" features a bit of the hard-edged beats and aggressive flow that rap fans have come to expect from the grime genre, "Runaway" showcases a much poppier side of Devlin's music that includes string samples and guest vocals from Scottish singer, Yasmin. His debut LP, Buds, Sweat and Beers reached number two on the R&B Album chart in 2010, confirming his place amongst some of the more notable rappers currently working in the UK hip-hop scene.
