Gomez is an indie rock band from Southport, England that has grown to become distinctive for the tremendous musical talent of its four members, as well as its music's ability to defy any sort of steadfast genre categorization. The band released its debut album, Bring it On, in 1998 to much acclaim, earning Gomez the coveted Mercury Music Prize among many others later on that year. Having earned a name for itself as an indie rock band to be reckoned with, Gomez spent a majority of the 2000s developing a more popular sound before returning to its more experimental roots in 2009 with the release of the band's sixth studio album, A New Tide.
