The English heavy metal band Wolfsbane was formed in Tamworth, England in 1984. Quickly after singing with Def American Records, the band released its debut album Live Fast, Die Fast, in 1989, a solid effort with thrash metal guitar riffs and solos. As the opening act for the UK segment of Iron Maiden's No Prayer on the Road tour in 1990, Wolfsbane quickly earned a following among the heavy metal audiences for its willingness to stretch the metal genre with acoustic guitar and thoughtful ballads. Despite garnering success in England, the band was dropped by its North American record label for not generating enough album sales in the US. Less than a year later, Wolfsbane released it's first live album with the Bronze Company, the same label that would go on to release band's most successful studio album, an eponymous 1994 record. This peak was cut short when lead singer Blaze Bayley left the band to join Iron Maiden, whose front man Bruce Dickinson had just quit, resulting in the disbanding of Wolfsbane. Over a decade later in 2007, Wolfsbane reunited to play a set at the Rock of Ages Festival in its hometown and followed the show with its first tour of the UK in 13 years.
