Originally formed in 1973 as a glam rock band, Twisted Sister is a heavy metal band from New York that adopted its metal-inspired sound when vocalist Dee Snider was added to the lineup in 1976. Blending the androgynous style of glam metal, the rebelliousness of rock and roll and the shock tactics of horror punk, Twisted Sister was known for exploring themes of subordinate-authority power struggles and the education system. Starting with the release of its debut album Under the Blade, in 1982, the band began pumping out anthems of rebellion such as "I Wanna Rock" and more famously, "We're Not Gonna Take It," which both spawned popular music videos on MTV. Though Twisted Sister's heyday has long passed since its breakup in 1987, the band reformed in the 2000s and released its first album in nearly two decades, titled Still Hungry, in 2004.
