Jackie Leven is a rock and folk singer/songwriter from Fife, Scotland. Under the name John St. Field, he released his album Control in 1975 before forming the blues/punk band Doll by Doll in 1977. The band released four albums until it broke up in 1983, after which Leven began his solo career. During the recording of his first solo album in 1984, Leven was nearly strangled after a random attack on the street that left him unable to sing or speak for almost two years. The repercussions of the incident left him addicted to heroin, though at the same time he was working on collaborations with his former band-mates Joe Shaw and David Macintosh as well as ex-Sex Pistol Glen Matlock. His solo career picked up again in 1994, when Leven released his album The Mystery of Love is Greater than the Mystery of Death, and was signed to Cooking Vinyl records for his folk rock music. He began writing music at such a quick rate that his record company could not accommodate all of his music, so in 2006 he recorded the album Songs For Lonely Americans under the name Sir Vincent Lone. When the album proved to be successful, Cooking Vinyl re-released the album under its name. After beating his addiction to heroin with the help of acupuncture and psychic healing, Leven started the CORE Trust organization, a foundation dedicated to treating heroin addition.
