With its blistering combination of hardcore techno, punk, noise rock and political radicalism, Atari Teenage Riot has been a polarizing entity on the electronic music scene since its inception in 1992. The band's early controversial singles such as "Hunting for Nazis" and "Deutschland (Has Gotta Die!)" caused a stir in its native home of Berlin due to their anarchic lyrics, breakneck rhythms and grating distortion. Eventually, the tracks made their way to the US, where Mike D of the Beastie Boys signed Atari Teenage Riot to the group's own Grand Royal record label in 1996. The band developed a devoted following of fans of both hardcore techno and punk rock before disbanding in 2000 after the death of one of its founding members. Atari Teenage Riot has since reformed as of 2010, continuing its legacy as a love it or hate it force to be reckoned with.
