The Italian heavy metal band Wind Rose was formed in 2009 in Pisa, Tuscany. It spent the next few years rising through the ranks, with a unique sound that pays homage to the fantastical world of J.R.R. Tolkein, to become one of the most sought-after artists in the European metal circle. The group, comprising Francesco Cavalieri, Claudio Falconcini, Federico Meranda, Cristiano Bertocchi and Federico Gatti, issued its first full-length album Shadows Over Lothadruin in 2012. It then focused on touring extensively with names like Finntroll and Epica in order to build a fan base and establish itself. Its sophomore album Wardens of the West dropped in 2015 and by the time its third record, 2017's Stonehymn came out, Wind Rose had gained a large fan-following. One of the songs from the album, "To Erebor," became a huge hit, earning the band a place on the lineup of major metal festivals. Via Napalm Records, the collective released its viral hit "Diggy Diggy Hole" and followed it up with the album Wintersaga. Wind Rose's other popular songs include "Mine Mine Mine!" and "Wintersaga."
