Armandinho, born Armando da Costa Macêdo on May 23, 1953, is a renowned Brazilian composer and singer. Hailing from Salvador, he comes from a musical lineage as the son of Osmar Macêdo, one of the pioneers of the world's first electric trio, Trio Elétrico de Dodô e Osmar. In the early years of his career, Armandinho played in bands such as Trio Elétrico Mirim in 1962 and Hell's Angels in 1967. In 1970, he co-founded A Cor do Som with fellow musicians Dadi (bassist/vocalist), Mú Carvalho (keyboardist/vocalist), Ary Dias (percussionist/vocalist), and Gustavo Schroeter (drummer). The band achieved success and recognition, performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival and scoring hits like "Beleza pura" (Caetano Veloso), "Abri a porta" (Gilberto Gil/Dominguinhos), and "Zanzibar" (Armandinho/Fausto Nilo). Throughout his career, Armandinho has collaborated with esteemed musicians including Raphael Rabello, Paulo Moura, Época de Ouro, Moraes Moreira, Pepeu Gomes, and has led his own group, the Trio Elétrico de Armandinho. His contributions to Brazilian music have left a lasting impact, showcasing his talent and versatility as a composer and singer.
