Koncz Zsuzsa, born in 1946, is one of the greatest female vocalists of the nation. Her folk rock sound made her popular, and her songs' controversial content made her well-known. Under the Communist system, several of her songs were forbidden because of their subject matter. In those, she criticized the inhuman conditions and other social-related issues. Many of her songs follow a more traditional folk sound, and others are written from old Hungarian poems, like "Ha én rózsa volnék..." (If I were a rose).
