Based in Nashville, Tennessee Jars of Clay is a Christian rock band that was formed in 1993 while its members were attending Greenville College in Illinois. After signing with Essential Records, the band released its self-titled debut LP in 1995 and would go on to release several more studio albums with the contemporary Christian label. After its eighth LP, 2006's Good Monsters, Jars of Clay decided to independently distribute music under its own imprint, Gray Matters, starting with its 2007 record, Christmas Songs.
