Proving there's no age limit for punk, Jello Biafra got the idea for his project Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine just before his 50th birthday. Best known for his time as lead vocalist of Dead Kennedys, Biafra was inspired by Iggy Pop's 60th anniversary concert at the Warfield in San Francisco to continue on with his punk rock roots. The band took form in 2008 and released its debut album The Audacity of Hype, in 2009 with a sound that marries hardcore punk sound of the Dead Kennedys with the sonic sound of protopunk guitar and metal percussion. Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine has since continued to keep the spirit of punk alive with releases such as the 2011 EP, Enhanced Methods of Questioning, and 2013's White People and the Damage Done.
