Vancouver-based act NoMeansNo was a progressive punk band that was formed in 1979 by brothers Rob and John Wright. NoMeansNo released its debut album Mama, in 1982 just before adding guitarist and vocalist Andy Kerr to the lineup. Kerr added a hardcore punk edge to the band's sound, and though he only stayed until 1992 he contributed vocals to nearly half the tracks on NoMeansNo's most renowned album, Wrong. The album, released in 1989, is considered the band's most representative effort, but despite the success of the album Kerr left the band in 1994. Tom Holliston was brought in on guitar and vocals, completing the lineup of NoMeansNo that would go on to release five more albums, before calling it quits in 2016.
