Larry King is best known for his 25-year-run on the CNN televised late night news show Larry King Live. Born Lawrence Zeiger, he changed his name after a station manager in Florida told him Zeiger sounded "too ethnic." After slowly building a name for himself in the Sunshine State, King became a recognizable face of television news and was offered a nationally broadcast show of his own on CNN in 1985. The show helped establish King as a no-nonsense interviewer who could be hard-lined when he needed to be and affable when the occasion called for it. After bowing out of his show, he has kept a relatively low profile--occasionally, but rarely, contibuting news segments to CNN. Possibly because of this abundance of downtime, King has decided to perform stand-up, in which he provides audiences with an intimate inside look at his life.
