Formed in 2007, Makeshift Innocence is a reggae duo from Calgary, Canada that plays a style of music that's a clear byproduct of lead singer/songwriter Jesse-James Cameron's time spent in Jamaica as a child. After moving to Calgary, his love of the tropical sounds of the West Indies stayed with him--prompting Cameron to form a group that'd pay homage to the style of music he fell in love with during his youth. With heartfelt lyrics and characteristic roots-rock rhythms, Makeshift Innocence has managed to set itself apart from other bands in the Calgary music scene with an approach to songwriting that is neither pretentious nor arrogant.
