MC Hammer is a rapper, dancer and occasional actor from Oakland, California who is best known for his hit songs "U Can't Touch This" and "2 Legit 2 Quit." Although he released his debut LP, Feel the Power, in 1987, MC Hammer didn't receive major popularity until his 1988 album, Let's Get it Started, came out and went double platinum. Though MC Hammer's popularity faded by the mid-1990s, prompting him to become a preacher and and mentor to many under-privileged children in the Bay Area, MC Hammer has made a return to the stage and is now looked up to as somewhat of an elder statesman of the late 1980s and early 1990s music community.
