Peggy Seeger is a folk singer/songwriter from New York City. She rose to attention during the 1950s when she got her passport confiscated and was very nearly deported for her interest in communism. She released her debut album Folksongs of Courting and Complaint in 1955, stirring the sociocultural pot under McCarthyism. Over the decades, she continued to push her brand of protest songs on records like 1967's Peggy Alone, 1979's Different Therefore Equal and 2014's Everything Changes.
