Marlanna Evans, better-known as Rapsody, is an American rapper born in Snow Hill, NC in 1983. She started her career in music while in North Carolina State University, where she joined the hip-hop group Kooley High. After a brief stint with the group, she embarked on a solo career after signing with It's A Wonderful World Music Group. She broke into the limelight with the release of the mixtape Return of the B-Girl in 2010. It was produced by DJ Premier and featured names like Mac Miller and Big Daddy Kane. Her subsequent mixtapes, Thank H.E.R. Now and For Everything helped her build a solid fan-following and gain acclaim in the industry. They also gave her the opportunity to work with prominent artists like Big K.R.I.T, Estelle, Jean Grae, Marsha Ambrosius and Murs. In 2011, Rapsody took the stage as a guest on Mac Miller's Incredibly Dope Tour. Later that same year, she joined Phonte and 9th Wonder on the Phonte & 9th Wonder Tour. With works like The Black Mamba, Beauty and the Beast, The Idea of Beautiful and Laila's Wisdom under her belt, she has successfully made a mark in the industry.
