S.T.S. (which is an acronym for the last names of the band members: Steinbäcker, Timischl and Schiffkowitz) is a folk rock trio from Styrian, Austria that is known for combining the folk rock medium made popular during the 1970s with three part vocal harmony. Since forming in 1978, S.T.S. grew to become one of Austria's most commercially successful bands, with numerous Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum albums to its name. Nearly a household name in German speaking countries, little is known about S.T.S. internationally, although anyone with a taste for folk rock owes it to themselves to give the band a listen.
