The Sweet is a British glam rock band that rose to prominence in the 1970s with multiple hit singles, including the chart topping songs "The Ballroom Blitz," "Hell Raiser" and "Fox on the Run." Known for its theatrical appearance and faux-glam style, The Sweet was part of a music scene in England that popularized the notion that rock should be a modern and popular form of opera. Though the group fell out of prominence as punk's no-frills pretentiousness kicked into gear by the late 1970s and early 1980s, forcing the band to break up in 1982, The Sweet managed to reform in 1985. The group has been touring fairly consistently since then.
