By blending the seemingly polarizing worlds of symphonic music and doom metal, the German band Haggared has managed to create a unique sound for itself that has gone over well with many listeners-turned-fans in Europe. Founded in 1989, the band is helmed by lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Asis Nasseri--who writes all the orchestrations that are played by up to 21 musicians and singers on classical string and wood instruments as well as choir-like vocal duties. Able to tell stories within many of its songs, as well as albums, the neo-medieval band's most recent LP centers around tales created by famed German folklorists the brothers Grimm.
