Gallagher is the stage name for Leo Anthony Gallagher, Jr., a comedian and prop comic from Fort Bragg, North Carolina who is perhaps best known for his iconic act "Sledge-O-Matic," involving him smashing watermelons as well as other random "smashable" objects. Although one cannot categorize Gallagher's unique brand of comedy as "high brow" (Johnny Carson refused to have him on the Tonight Show while he was hosting due to his distaste for prop comedy), Gallagher can be considered to be one of the United States' most well-known physical comedians.
