The Canadian band Axis of Conversation is a group that believes in blending old world composition techniques with modern instrumentation to create a style of music that is characteristically original. Formed in 2006, Axis of Conversation incorporates stringed instruments like the cello and violin into songs that are filled with punchy drumming, forward-thinking synths and samples to create a heady amalgamation of sound that has managed to win over listeners in the band's home city of Calgary. Though the mix and matching of styles might sound overbearing, the members of Axis of Conversation are able to make fairly subdued music comprised of layers of dense noise and enticing sounds.
