As influenced by 1970s folk rock as it is by the expansive indie rock being made by Arcade Fire and the rest of its contemporary Canadian brethren, Little City is an emerging six-piece from Toronto. The band's piano-based ballads are graced with melancholic pedal steel and harmonica parts that complement the rich female vocals at the center of it all, while the more uptempo numbers incorporate rock-oriented elements that frame the band as a restrained alt-country outfit. The band's members are all involved with separate projects throughout Toronto, but the group's early success has ensured that Little City won't simply dissolve into side-project territory.
