Even though American R&B singer Gerrell Gaddis, who's known by his stage-name Rell, doesn't have a solo career that's well known by mainstream audiences, the vocalist has performed on songs with musical luminaries like Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Born and raised in South Carolina, Rell displayed an ardent interest in singing from a young age and shortly after making a name for himself, he was signed by Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records in 1997. While Rell's smooth vocal style doesn't necessarily fall under the classical rap or hip-hop style, since signing with Roc-A-Fella, he has contributed many hooks to songs by nearly every artist on the label. Rell's breakthrough came in 1998 when he recorded the song "Love for Free" with Jay-Z and the song went on to receive play on radio stations and nightclubs around the country. Apart from his work in the rap community, Rell has worked with a myriad of musicians and truly proven his musical diversity by contributing vocals to reggaeton and soul songs.
