Aqua is a Danish electropop group that is known for its breakthrough 1997 single "Barbie Girl." Initially formed in 1988, the group spent years refining its sound and honing its approach before finally arriving at its characteristic, electropop style. Though Aqua's "Barbie Girl"song helped provide the group with world wide recognition, success was short lived and after band tensions rose to a breaking point, the group split up in 2001. However, the original members regrouped in 2007 and since then Aqua managed to release its 2011 LP, Megalomania, in addition to maintaining a fairly busy touring schedule
